Setting up a cheap rifle scope:

The task of boresighting a cheap rifle scope is a fairly simple, and worthwhile process because it will result in more effective targeting.  For those who do not know much about doing this to a new or used rifle scope, a tiny error on the rifle barrel will be magnified many times, as your target gets further and further away.

To do this, first you need your rifle and scope. The scope should come equipped with mounting hardware.  Mount your scope so that no other gun components get in the way.

Next, rest the gun on a solid surface and focus on an object about fifty feet away through the rifle bore.  Hold the gun steady after aligning, then look at the same object through the scope.  Adjust the scope until the crosshairs are focused precisely on the object.

Regardless of the type of scopes (they can be Nikon scopes or Leupold scopes), repeat this process a few times, with different objects and different distances.  When you are sure that you have an accurate setting, you can test it by firing the weapon at a target using your new rifle scope. If you are accurate with your shots, great.  If not, keep repeating the procedure.  Boring tools are helpful lasers that will help boresight your rifle even faster.  They are expensive, but worth it if you use your rifle a lot and remove the used rifle scope every so often.
